Elevate the spirit: Felderman and Keatinge’s approach to design

Ever since their pioneering MTV Networks project more than 20 years ago, workplace designers Stanley Felderman and Nancy Keatinge have been in the vanguard of new ideas

Stanley Felderman and Nancy Keatinge, keynote speakers at WORKTECH West Coast 2016, describe themselves as workplace futurists as well as designers – and with good reason. Their 1994 MTV Networks project introduced a language of community and collaboration spaces for a young workforce that is still in vogue today amid the drive to reach out to millennials.

Their Los Angeles–based firm, Felderman Keatinge & Associates, has achieved ‘legend’ status for a succession of leading-edge projects that reflect their interest in elevating the spirit of people who work in office buildings. In this exclusive video interview for the Academy, husband-and-wife team Felderman and Keatinge spell out their design philosophy and the elements that make up a great interior – from LED lighting to acoustics and art.
