The WORKTECH Index: new survey tool to help firms improve experience

Companies recognise the challenge of boosting employee experience but often struggle to marshal the right data insights to effect change. A new survey tool aims to bridge that gap

A new diagnostic tool designed to help employers measure and improve workplace experience has been launched at this autumn’s WORKTECH London conference, based on six ‘moments that matter’ at work.

The WORKTECH Index has been developed by management consulting and research firm UnWork (a sister company of WORKTECH Academy). It provides a standardised, repeatable employee survey that evaluates six dimensions of workplace experience – giving organisations rapid, actionable insights based on robust data to inform workplace strategy and transformation.

Built on more than 25 years of workplace research and consulting, the WORKTECH Index survey is designed to be concise to maximise participation: it typically takes employees under ten minutes to complete. Participating organisations receive a detailed report that highlights strengths and opportunities, both holistically and within each dimension of experience.

Global benchmark

As the WORKTECH Index is increasingly adopted, a pool of aggregated, anonymised responses will contribute to a growing global benchmark that will enable cross-industry and cross-regional comparison. The Index is hosted on a secure, GDPR-compliant platform and can be customised with additional questions where required.

The launch at WORKTECH London on 18-19 November 2025 aligned the Index with the conference’s focus on the forces shaping the future of work, notably sustainability, wellbeing, hybrid working, AI and other emerging technologies.

WORKTECH London’s expanded two-day format of workplace tours, think tanks and roundtables provided a live forum for workplace professionals to explore how data-driven insights can improve workplace design, culture and technology. The WORKTECH Index offers a practical mechanism for workplace leaders to translate those conversations into measurable action.

Moving the dial

UnWork managing director Frankie Jack comments: ‘Our clients keep telling us that improving employee experience is a key priority but so difficult to achieve. The WORKTECH Index provides a swift and effective way for companies to gather data and insights that will move the dial on people performance, satisfaction and experience.’

WORKTECH Academy chairman Jeremy Myerson, who contributed to the Index’s development, adds: ‘Over time, the Index will generate a large pool of data that has the potential enable companies to benchmark across industries and regions. It’s a much-needed initiative based on simplicity and immediacy.’

UnWork ran an exclusive session presenting the Index during WORKTECH London and is inviting conference delegates and client partners to schedule a walkthrough of the survey and reporting options. For enquiries, or to arrange a walkthrough, please contact UnWork at [email protected]
