Collaboration reimagined: five trends to watch in the workplace

New technologies, hybrid models and shifting employee expectations are altering how we collaborate at work. A new report from Avocor maps out some key changes

As collaborative activity in the hybrid era breaks the boundaries of physical meeting rooms and linear workflows, what future trends will drive collaboration as a foundation for innovation, performance and growth? And how can organisations bring people together in a more effective way?

These questions are addressed in a new report from Avocor, a pioneer in interactive display technology, in partnership with WORKTECH Academy. The white paper entitled Collaboration Reimagined explores five emerging trends that are set to reshape patterns of collaboration as hybrid working consolidates its grip.

Tracking key themes

The five trends are as follows:

  • Connection Capital – As personal and cross-functional networks shrink, organisations must reignite team connection and create opportunities for new work relationships to spark innovation.
  • Tech-Enabled Parity – With hybrid meetings now being the norm, collaboration must feel equitable for all, regardless of location. The right digital tools and environments are critical to levelling the playing field.
  • Coordinated Collaboration – The spontaneity of in-office work has faded. Today, collaboration must be planned with intention, using data to coordinate schedules, space and types of interactions to optimise impact.
  • Meeting Moderation – Collaboration overload has taken its toll. Organisations are redesigning meetings to be more focused and intentional, supporting both productivity and mental wellbeing while aligning with different modes of collaborative work.
  • Post-Collaboration Mindset – AI is now a primary creative partner, helping individuals refine ideas before ever entering a team setting. As co-creation shifts from real-time to asynchronous, meetings become spaces more for alignment and less for ideation.

The purpose of the publication, says Avocor, is to guide organisations towards a cohesive approach that leverages better screens and smarter software, alongside purpose-built spaces and inclusive cultures that foster meaningful collaboration.
